Karla: as knockabout clowns, (Als täppische Clowns)
Karla: quick-change comedians, (Verwandlungskünstler und)
Karla: tight-rope walkers and acrobats (Drahtseilartisten sind wir brillant)

Laura: we have an extensive reputation. (Wir sind immer gut für Sensationen)
Laura: We make our home in Victoria Grove - (in Victoria Grove sind wir zu Haus)
Laura: That is merely our centre of operation, (Doch das ist nur das Zentrum für die Aktionen)

Beide: for we are incurably given to rove. (die wir unternehmen tagein und tagaus)

Beide: When the family assemble for sunday dinner, (Traf sich sonntags die Familie zur Mittagsstunde)

Karla: with their minds made up that they won't get thinner (und freute sich schon mit Wasser im Munde)

Laura: on argentine Joint (Auf Braten vom Rind)

Karla: potatoes and Greens, (mit Kartoffeln und Gemüse)
Karla: then the cook would appear from behind the Scenes (Dann kam plötzlich die Köchin,vor Schreck ganz weiß)

Laura: and say in a voice that is broken with sorrow: (Und sprach unter Tränen und Schneuzen und Schnieben:)
Laura: "I'm afraid you must wait and have dinner tomorrow. (Tut mir leid, doch wir müssen das Essen verschieben)
Laura: for the joint has gone from the oven - like that!" (Der Braten ist fort, dabei gab ich so acht!)

Beide: Then the family will say: "Now which is which cat (Die Familie sagte: Das hat die Katze gemacht!)

Laura: It was 'Mungojerrie' (Das war'n Mungo Jerrie!)

Karla: or Rumpelteazer'? (und Rumpel Teazer!)

Beide: and there's nothing at all to be done about that! (Beide Katzen sind schuld, wenn es irgenwo kracht)
